When Chef Michael Gulotta (F&W Best New Chef 2016 and Food Network Iron Chef Gauntlet), described how his New Orleans restaurant was going to be “Mississippi River delta meets Mekong River delta”, Farouki Farouki knew immediately what optical device to use for the mural wall that would be the focal point of the restaurant and ultimately an icon of the brand.

Images of two historic maps were colorized to complement the restaurant’s palette and printed directly onto birch plywood boards, so the warmth and texture of the wood is present. The boards were then cut into strips and assembled.
A lenticular wall transposes strips from two different images onto triangular prisms so that only one image is visible and complete when viewed from each side, and both images are visible but intertwined when viewed from the front.
